Today was the first day of School for my middle school aged son. He was groaning a bit as he headed out the door with a loaded backpack, a check for lunch money and a bright red shirt the school provided for him to wear so he could be recognized in the halls, as he is an 8th grade leader helping to transition the new 7th graders in on their first day.
The problem for me is, it is still August 25th and that seems much too early for the 1st day of school! I did a small amount of school shopping last week, but I just can't seem to get it into my head that school days are truly here again. That means I need to do some serious shopping soon, as my son grew like a weed all summer long and all of his pants are way too short and most of his shirts look like they shrunk even though they didn't.
I may do the rest of my shopping online as the crowds at my local discount store are sure to be large. They always are.
